SMK Electronics Announces IR Protocol Support for Windows Media Center at 2008 International CES
New Protocol Available for Windows Media Center Family of Products
Chula Vista, California – January 7, 2008 – SMK Electronics Corporation announced today that Microsoft has selected SMK’s “Quatro Pulse” IR Protocol for use in Windows Media Center. Microsoft chose the “Quatro Pulse” IR Protocol after 18 months of rigorous testing and will offer it royalty free for use in devices designed to work with a wide range of Windows Media Center products. The “Quatro Pulse” IR Protocol offers extensive key code capabilities and maximum flexibility to a development community looking to take remote control devices to the next level. “We are extremely happy to provide Microsoft’s Windows Media Center with this level of flexibility in an IR Protocol,” said Paul Evans, President of SMK America Group. “It supports so many of the new ideas and concepts being developed today that it makes our job, as a Remote Control Manufacturer, that much easier.”
